The Kansas Nursing Workforce Center, established in 2023, is based at the University of Kansas School of Nursing and committed to the entire State. Our mission is to ensure that every Kansan has access to nursing care when and where it is needed and to support the nurse as an individual and as a member of the healthcare team. The Center focuses on measuring what matters, produces public-facing reports, and develops programs that support the nursing workforce and thus contributes to ensuring quality nursing care for Kansans.
We connect and convene stakeholders from rural, urban, and diverse practice settings to listen, learn, and understand the key issues affecting nursing and Kansas. By collecting nursing workforce data from credible sources, we make it accessible and actionable for decision-makers. Through collaboration, we foster a shared understanding of the Kansas nursing workforce and the steps needed to achieve our mission.
As Kansas representatives at the National Forum of State Nursing Workforce Centers, we contribute to national discussions and initiatives. Our work is guided by an advisory board and supported by grants, generous gifts from foundations and donors, and the University of Kansas School of Nursing.
We welcome collaboration with anyone interested in ensuring nurses are equipped and patients are cared for.
