Community College Nursing Partnership

Curriculum

Students can complete their associate and bachelor's degree in nursing simultaneously through community college and online KU courses.

The Community College Nursing Partnership is full-time, including summer classes.

Students in the community college program are typically enrolled in a combined total of 15 to 17 nursing credit hours each semester through both schools. See the full course descriptions of the courses taught through the KU School of Nursing.

Credit for the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree is earned through a combination of liberal arts prerequisites, KU nursing courses and a portfolio review of community college nursing courses. Portfolio is the method used to award university level credit (300-400 level courses) for academic knowledge acquired through your community college nursing program.

All nursing partnership students are awarded 31 credit hours via the portfolio process. Students are billed just $15.00 per portfolio course, which equates to a total of $165.00. This fee is assessed upon completion of the program.

Program objectives

Objective 7: Examine the micro- and macro-systems that influence health care delivery to achieve quality patient care within economic boundaries.
Objective 8: Contribute the unique nursing perspective with the interdisciplinary health care team to achieve optimal health care outcomes.
