Admissions and Aid

No matter which nursing program in the KU School of Nursing you pursue, we're here to help with admissions, costs and financial aid.

Admissions

We offer three ways to obtain your Bachelors of Science in Nursing as well as programs to earn a master's, DNP or Ph.D. in nursing. Each of our programs has different admissions requirements.

Scholarships

We offer a multitude of scholarships based on academic performance, financial need, racial or ethnic minority identity, special eligibility and more. You only need to complete one application form to apply for all these scholarships. The application will be sent out to admitted students via school email. Some of these are need-based and require completion of the FAFSA (additional information below).

Financial Aid and Tuition

Your costs will depend on what program you are enrolled in and the amount of time needed to complete your course requirements. The Kansas Board of Regents establishes tuition and fees, which you will pay at the beginning of each semester. Visit the Registrar's Office for information about tuition and fees for each of our programs.

To apply for financial aid, complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.studentaid.gov. Our school code is 001948, the same as the main campus in Lawrence. If you have any questions, contact Student Financial Aid at financialaid@kumc.edu.

Health Requirements for Enrollment

The University of Kansas Medical Center requires various immunizations for its students. For a detailed list please see Health Requirements for Enrollment. These immunization requirements help promote health and safety and facilitate clinical placement. Many, if not all, clinical sites who partner with the University of Kansas Medical Center require proof of these vaccines for students engaged in training or other programmatic experiences at clinical sites. Not being vaccinated may preclude students from participating in activities, potentially impeding their ability to complete all program requirements for degree completion. Applicants with questions should speak with a representative from the academic program to which they intend to apply.

The KU School of Nursing employs ethics and best practices in recruitment and admissions as outlined by the Kansas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers.
