K-12 Programs
K-12 students can be part of unique programs through KU School of Medicine's on-campus and virtual educational experiences.
KU Medical Center Educational Experience
High school students interested in medicine as a career should consider participating in the University of Kansas Medical Center Educational Experience (KEE) before entering college. If accepted, you'll learn first-hand the physical, emotional and educational opportunities for a potential medical career. You also will discover the sacrifices necessary to build a career in medicine and whether you're prepared and accepting of the challenge.
Sessions are offered both on-campus and virtually, and the content explores opportunities in both clinical and research settings. Though non-curricular (not for high school or college credit), the program does offer plenty of other benefits, such as learning about careers in health care and gaining valuable research experience.
- This program provides observational and hands-on research opportunities or observational experiences in clinical environments.
- You must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident or DACA recipient age 16 or older to participate in the program.
- Minors, those less than 18 years of age, must have the permission of their parent(s) or guardian(s) to participate.
- Background checks are required for all program participants age 18 and older. Visit KEE Requirements and Application for more information.
