Make a Gift

Thank you for your interest in supporting the efforts of KU Wichita Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences. Our mission is to train medical students and health care professionals in psychiatry and behavioral sciences for the betterment of the citizens of Kansas.

Between formal education, scholarly activities and clinical service, we have a lot going on. Please take a look at the five ways your gift can help us toward our mission.

Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship Program

Mental health resources for children and adolescents in Sedgwick County and rural Kansas are woefully lacking. Many children go untreated, or worse, undiagnosed. Suicide rates, attempts and ideation, and depression have all increased in our most vulnerable populations. A child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship program at KU School of Medicine-Wichita will transform the environment for mental health care and make the highest quality interventions available in the Wichita community. Graduating fellows will practice throughout the city and state. We strongly believe that, if we want child psychiatrists to work here with us and our children, we need to train them here.

McKnight Fund for Suicide Prevention

At the age of 18, Jarrett McKnight, son of Shean McKnight, M.D., who completed his psychiatry residency with us in 2015 and has remained part of our professional community, died by suicide. Funds to the McKnight Fund for Suicide Prevention honor Jarrett's memory and assist with the department’s suicide prevention efforts.

ADHD Summer Treatment Program

We are committed to supporting programming for a new summer camp that aims to help children with ADHD modify their behavior. The Summer Treatment Program is a camp built on the belief - and developing research - that teaching kids how to adjust their behavior and cope is a powerful tool alongside medications that help but can't entirely do it alone. Your donation will support this important programming.
