Welcome to the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences at KU School of Medicine-Wichita. Psychiatry and the behavioral sciences, as a field, are in an exciting stage of development. Extraordinary advances are being made in our understanding of the causes of those illnesses that impact both brain and behavior, and our learners are discovering how to care for the people whose lives are impacted by them.

If you or someone you know is looking for a patient appointment, please visit the Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences Clinics page. We will do our best to deliver empathic, holistic, person-centered patient care that incorporates recent advances in treatment - some of which have been developed right here in Wichita.

If you are a future physician, psychologist or psychiatrist, you can learn more about our training programs here. We will work with you to help you develop the knowledge and expertise you'll need for a fulfilling professional journey. If you want to read about innovations in practice, check out our continuing education, and research pages.

Our faculty, staff and learners are part of your community. We want to work with you to improve the lives of those who experience mental illnesses and to support their families. If you have a question, we encourage you to contact our department.
