Obstetrics & Gynecology-Wichita

The KUSM-W OB-GYN program is a fully accredited four-year residency program that is approved for six residents at each level for a total of 24 residents. A majority of our graduates are specialists in general obstetrics and gynecology, and we have had residents pursue fellowship in all of the recognized subspecialties.

The number of obstetric cases and deliveries available for residents to participate in consistently ranks above the 90th percentile nationally. Wesley Healthcare is the major clinical learning environment for the residency program. The labor and delivery unit features 20 state-of-the-art delivery suites with six antepartum rooms for outpatient obstetric evaluation. Labor and delivery in the main hospital is run by a first-year resident with supervision by a senior resident. Wesley BirthCare Suites is located across the street from the main campus and features 20 labor and delivery suites and two operating rooms managed by a second-year resident.

Residents operate in a number of gynecologic cases throughout the four years of training. Residents operate with 40 faculty members, including general OB-GYNs, reproductive endocrinologists, urogynecologists, perinatologists and gynecologic oncologists.
