Campuses

Three campuses, one incredible education. Learn what you'll find at each KU School of Medicine campus.

Kansas City

Our flagship campus, launched in 1905, provides students with hands-on, interprofessional learning in the heart of the Midwest. Our students spend a great deal of time in the Health Education Building, which everyone here calls "the HEB." This state-of-the-art facility features classrooms, learning studios, simulation labs, a coffee shop and popular lounge spaces. It serves as the academic center of campus for students in the schools of Medicine, Health Professions and Nursing. We share the Kansas City campus with The University of Kansas Health System, a regional leader in patient care and the location for many of our clinical training opportunities. Outside of class, students on our Kansas City campus are actively involved in an array of student organizations and enjoy the energy of our growing and dynamic city.

Salina

Established in 2011, the University of Kansas School of Medicine campus in Salina offers an intimate yet high-tech educational environment for students with a strong desire to practice in rural areas. Eight students a year are admitted to the Salina campus, training in local clinics, rural physicians’ offices and the Salina Regional Health Center — all while learning alongside their peers in Kansas City and Wichita via interactive video and podcasts.

Our Salina building, called the Health Education Center, includes a clinical skills lab, a procedural skills lab and a gross anatomy lab. In addition to study areas and classrooms, students enjoy a fitness center and community space. We share the building with students and faculty from KU School of Nursing. Our downtown location means we are conveniently close to restaurants and events. Salina offers the perfect mix of a warm and welcoming community with the benefits of a regional hub for the arts, entertainment, retail and health care.

Wichita

Since 1971, the University of Kansas School of Medicine-Wichita has provided students with hands-on experience in a community-based medical education environment. Students can study in the George J. Farha Medical Library-Wichita and develop their skills in the state-of-the-art Simulation Center. Additionally, our students gain real-world training experience in three area hospitals — Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center, Wesley Medical Center and Ascension Via Christi — providing experiences that directly connect students to communities with the greatest need for care.

The Wichita campus’ legacy continues to evolve: Construction is currently underway of the Wichita Biomedical Campus, an audacious new facility that will open in downtown Wichita in fall 2027.
