Zheng X LongMESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR

Welcome to the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of Kansas Medical Center!

Since joining the Department in April 2020, I have been pleased with the progress made toward our departmental mission for excellence in patient care, education, and discovery, as well as community engagement. Our clinical faculty has grown by nearly 30 percent by adding seven new faculty.

The department will continue recruitment, reorganization, and community engagement to achieve our mission. We will also emphasize on subspecialization in service and enhancement of academic productivity and reputation. We will try to attract the best and brightest trainees and scholars to our department.

It is my greatest honor and privilege to have the opportunity to work with 45 preeminent faculty, from emerging leaders to highly accomplished pathologists and physician scientists or scientists who are nationally and internationally recognized.  Our trainees in clinical and basic science, drawn from leading institutions around the world, have further enhanced the vitality of our department.  I am grateful for what you do each and every day.

Sincerely,

X. Long Zheng, M.D., Ph.D.
