Affiliate Institutions

Our continually expanding affiliate relationships provide support for our faculty and residents and offer a unique environment for patient care and resident education.

Affiliate hospitals are instrumental in providing support to our dedicated faculty and residents and offering options for patient care throughout the Kansas City metro. As we continue to expand our relationships, we'd like to recognize the significant contribution of these institutions to the success of our Department.

Children's Mercy Hospital (CMH)

Children's Mercy Hospital
This free-standing, full-service, tertiary care hospital is located in downtown Kansas City, MO. CMH is dedicated to the care of pediatric patients in the region. KU Faculty work in concert with CMH faculty to provide a robust Pediatric Otolaryngology Experience. Dr. Laura Neff serves at the site director for residents who rotate at CMH during their PGY-1, PGY-2, PGY-3 and PGY-5 years.

Saint Luke's Hospital on the Plaza (SLH)

Saint Lukes Plaza
The main hospital of the St. Luke's system of hospitals is a tertiary care, private, not-for-profit facility. Two of our core faculty members (Drs. Larsen and Humphrey) work closely with SLH clinical faculty (Drs. Wood, McEwan, and Bhalla) to train mid-level and senior residents in a private practice environment.

Truman Medical Center (TMC)

Truman Medical Center
Located in downtown Kansas City, Truman Medical Center is the primary safety-net hospital for Jackson County, MO. It is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Missouri Kansas City School of Medicine (UMKC). We serve as the providers of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery care for UMKC/TMC, working closely with the students at that institution. Our General Otolaryngologists Dr. Roh and Dr. Robinson are joined by members of the Otology and Rhinology Divisions to provide PGY-4 residents a well-rounded experience in a county hospital environment.

Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kansas City

Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Kansas City
Located in east Kansas City, MO, this VA facility serves as a referral center for all of Kansas and significant portions of Missouri for VA Otolaryngology services. Residents rotate at the KCVA as PGY-1s, PGY-2s, and PGY-5s. The VA experience allows residents a degree of autonomy, while sharpening their clinical and surgical skills under the supervision of Dr. Jennifer Villwock.
