Noble P. Sherwood Seminar Series

Dr. Noble P. SherwoodDr. Noble P. Sherwood taught Botany and Bacteriology at the University of Kansas from 1910 to 1952 and served as the first Chairman of the Department of Bacteriology from 1917 to 1949. He worked on bacterial pathogenesis including anaphylactic shock and streptococcal virulence.

Noble P. Sherwood grew up in Kansas City and attended KU, where he received a B.S. in Engineering in 1905, an M.S. in Bacteriology in 1911 and a Ph.D. in 1921. In 1924, he received an M.D. from the Minnesota University Medical School.
