Fellowship Position
Nationally accredited by the Emergency Ultrasound Fellowship Accreditation Council for Advanced Emergency Medicine Ultrasound Fellowships (EUFAC)
Nominating organizations include the Society of Clinical Ultrasound Fellowships (SCUF), Society of Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM), American Academy of Emergency Medicine (AAEM) and the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) who provide representatives to EUFAC. EUFAC serves as the accrediting body for fellowship programs for emergency physicians training in ultrasound.

Other Duties
Under the direction of the ultrasound faculty the fellow will manage the resident and student rotations in the ED including: fourth-year medical student elective, intern ultrasound rotation, senior elective, and senior ultrasound administration rotation. The fellow will actively participate in assisting non-credentialed faculty in obtaining privileges in bedside ultrasound. The fellow will also actively participate with interdepartmental promotion of bedside ultrasound.

Educational Experience
The fellow will develop the necessary sonographic skills by completing a minimum of 1,000 scans over the course of the year. The fellow's education will be tailored to fit their individual educational needs based on the reading curriculum.

Administrative Education
Under the direction of the ultrasound faculty the fellow will manage the resident and student rotations in the ED including: fourth-year medical student elective, intern ultrasound rotation, senior elective rotation, and senior ultrasound administration rotation. The fellow will also lecture periodically throughout the year on select ultrasound topics during EM didactics and bimonthly during an ultrasound conference with MICU fellows.
The fellow will actively participate in all administrative duties for running the department ultrasound program. This will include bedside education with current attending physicians working toward privileges, development of educational programs, quality assurance measures, and continued development or interdepartmental relationships as it relates to bedside ultrasound.
Research or Quality Improvement
The fellow will have the option of developing one original research project or one original quality improvement project. This will allow the fellow to tailor their project to future career goals. Fellows will also participate in any ongoing ultrasound research and quality improvement projects.
Image Review
We use Q-pathE, a data management system, for image review. This allows us to separate clinical and training studies yet be able to give staff, fellows, residents and students feedback on image quality and interpretation. Clinical images are then archived in PACS and clinical reports are archived in EPIC.
