We are currently recruiting participants for a study to develop a walking exercise program for non-ambulatory stroke survivors.

At the University of Kansas Medical Center, we are dedicated to advancing stroke recovery techniques and improving the quality of life for individuals affected by stroke. If you've experienced a stroke and are primarily using a wheelchair or using assistive devices for mobility, you may be eligible to participate in our innovative exercise program at no cost to yourself.

About Our Study

  • Duration: 8-week program.
  • Frequency: sessions held three times per week.
  • Methods: includes lower extremity cycling and robotic-assisted treadmill training.
  • Goal: to study the impact of exercise on cardiac & pulmonary health as well as on mobility and independence through tailored exercises that support the recovery process.

Who Can Join?

  • Individuals at least 18 years old who have experienced a stroke.
  • Those who are primarily wheelchair-bound or use assistive devices to walk.
