In the Health Exercise and Aging Lab (HEAL), we are improving the health and wellness of those with chronic diseases or disabilities.

We're studying the effect of activity and sedentary behavior interventions in people with neurologic conditions such as diabetic neuropathy and stroke.

HEAL is housed in the Hemenway Life Science Innovation Center on the Kansas City campus of the University of Kansas Medical Center. The lab encompasses approximately 4,000 square feet. Within the three labs, students and faculty can assess body composition, muscle strength and endurance, and aerobic fitness.

The space includes a large waiting area, reception desk, faculty and research associate offices, conference room and a large exercise intervention room furnished with LifeFitness aerobic equipment and a resistance training circuit.
