Speech-Language Pathology Services
Our clinic offers essential speech-language-pathology services to patients in Kansas City and the surrounding area.
Our speech-language pathology clinic, located at KU Medical Center, offers comprehensive services to people with communicative disorders throughout the Kansas City area. All services are supervised by clinical faculty who maintain the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and who are licensed through the Kansas Department for Aging and Disability Services.
Building upon its relationship with the Intercampus Program in Communicative Disorders, the clinic provides KU students with professional clinical training opportunities for essential experiences in a modern and diverse clinical setting.
Our Services
The clinic provides diagnostic and treatment services in the following areas:
- AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) evaluations and training.
- APD (Auditory Processing Disorder) therapy.
- Articulation/phonological disorders.
- Autism spectrum disorders.
- Cognitive-communication disorders.
- Dyslexia testing.
- Language acquisition.
- Language disorders.
- Neurogenic communication disorders.
- Speech and resonance disorders related to cleft lip/palate.
- Speech disorders.
- Swallowing disorders.
What to Know Before Your Appointment
An appointment scheduled in advance is necessary, as walk-in hours are not offered. Scheduling staff are available 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. You may request an appointment online using the link in the section below, and our office will call you to follow up.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, patients do not pay for services received at our clinic. We do not bill through insurance.
A physician's referral may be required for some evaluations or speech-therapy services. Please call 913-588-5937 (711 TTY) to determine if a referral is necessary for your visit.

Appointments with the clinic may require a physician's referral. The clinic uses KU Endowment funds to pay for patient services and does not bill through insurance.
The clinic is located at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas, next to main hospital of The University of Kansas Health System. It offers accessible parking with many accommodations expected of the region's top academic health center.
Visitors may park in the P2 parking garage on the south side of campus, along Olathe Boulevard. Present the parking pass at your appointment for validation. Your cost for parking is $3.00 with validation.
Enter the Medical Pavilion across the street and proceed through the doors to the left of the information desk. Follow the hallway, past another set of doors into the Miller building. Elevators will be to the right, and the clinic is on the fourth floor of the Miller building.

Our Mission
The mission of the KU Medical Center Hearing and Speech Clinics is to provide the best services possible and serve as an educational resource for future top clinicians. The clinics strive to deliver the highest-quality care to patients and to instruct future leaders to provide the same high quality of care. We also aim to be an educational resource for the community to raise awareness regarding speech and hearing issues and their effect on daily living.
The clinics seek to improve quality of life and well-being for the whole person via services provided and/or through appropriate referrals. Associated with a major academic health center, the clinics have access to many referrals and resources that may be necessary following the patient's evaluation.
