Our Impact

Project Eagle is improving the academic odds for children under the age of 5 in Wyandotte County, Kansas.

Working with community outreach services, familes are receiving support and guidance to improve vocabulary, pre-literacy and numeracy skills, ensuring greater academic success today and in the future.

  • Educare Kansas City's year-round program promotes the healthy development and school readiness of infants, toddlers and preschoolers through high-quality, evidence-based teaching and classroom practices as well as intensive family engagement.
  • During the 2019-2020 program year, Project Eagle Early Head Start served 327 families, which included 416 children and fifty-two pregnant women.
  • According to our 2019-2020 Community Assessment, there are approximately 2,488 children in Wyandotte County who would be eligible for Early Head Start services. Project Eagle’s average monthly enrollment for 2019-2020 was 98.2%.

By bridging the achievement gap earlier in life, students become better equipped to perform well in school and avoid social and economic problems later in life such as illiteracy, teen pregnancy, high dropout rates and unemployment. Economic analyses demonstrate that investment in early childhood education provide a return that exceeds the return on most public projects: $8 for every $1 invested.
