Professional Background
Dr. Muhammad Imran is a board-certified psychiatrist with over ten years of experience working with diverse patient populations and settings. He obtained his medical education from Dow Medical College in Pakistan and practiced medicine for several years before moving to the U.S. to pursue advanced training in psychiatry. He completed his psychiatry residency training at Saint Elizabeths Hospital/Department of Behavioral Health in Washington, DC, in 2014. Dr. Imran holds certifications from the American Board of Psychiatry & Neurology and is licensed to practice in Missouri and Kansas.
Dr. Imran has also attended advanced training in psychodynamic psychotherapy at Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis as well as at Greater Kansas City–Topeka Psychoanalytic Institute. His extensive experience includes working in inpatient psychiatric services at Signature Psychiatric Hospital, Saint Anthony Geriatric Behavioral Health Hospital, Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, Truman Medical Center, and providing outpatient and telepsychiatric services for adults and children at Samuel Rodgers Health Center, KC Care Health Center, Cornerstone of Care Ozanam Campus, Hopewell Center (Saint Louis), and Olathe Medical Center. He has also provided psychiatric consultation in long-term care/nursing homes at Barnes Healthcare Management.
Dr. Imran has been involved in academia, having worked with residents and medical students as Clinical Faculty at UMKC School of Medicine and as a Clinical Preceptor for medical students at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences. He has also been a collaborating physician with many psychiatric APRNs.
His clinical interests include psychodynamic psychotherapy with an emphasis on patient-centered care and psychopharmacology for patients with severe persistent mental illness (SPMI) to help alleviate disabling symptoms and restore functions. Dr. Imran's empathetic approach ensures that his patients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout their mental health journey.
Dr. Imran has been a member of several professional organizations, including the American Psychiatric Association and the Missouri Psychiatric Physician Association, and the Greater KC Topeka Psychoanalytic Center.
