Professional Background

I am delighted to return to the University of Kansas Medical Center as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. My academic and clinical pursuits are focused in the areas of Musculoskeletal and Neuromuscular Medicine, where I specialize in regenerative medicine, electromyography, spasticity management and therapeutic exercise prescription. I am committed to physician wellness in all forms, and hope to actively work toward the longevity of health care providers in general for myself and for future generations. I also have special interest in innovative approaches to improve therapeutic outcomes with the assistance of new technology and the emergency of artificial intelligence. I was born in Harrisonville, Missouri and have remained in the Kansas City area throughout most of my professional career. I got my Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy at the University of Missouri and practiced locally for seven years before deciding that I would like to do more for my patients, so pursued and attended medical school at Kansas City University, and eventually residency in PM&R at University of Kansas Medical Center, graduating in 2017. I felt drawn to serve the veteran population so I spent the next seven years working at the VA Medical Center in Kansas City, where I practiced medicine but also gained a significant amount of leadership and teaching experience. I’m very happy to return to KUMC, where I did my residency, in an effort to shift my career back toward serving patients by bringing 22 years of rehabilitative experience into the clinic and the medical center. It is so fulfilling to join a medical and research staff who have become so accomplished in the field that I love, in hopes of humbly contributing myself. Outside of the hospital I enjoy reveling in my Kansas City roots by enjoying the BBQ and Jazz culture and cheering on the local sports teams as I have since childhood, with my lovely wife and three children.
