Lecture Capture and Video Content Management
Panopto, best described as YouTube for education, is TLT’s lecture capture and content management solution, and it offers an extensive set of features to help facilitate the learning process. Recordings can be made with dedicated desktop and mobile applications, or they can be uploaded after being created with other systems like Zoom or Teams. Panopto also integrates with Blackboard courses, granting students and instructors easy and secure access to their course recordings.
Once a video is uploaded to the Panopto website, creators can login to organize their video library with folders and subfolders, remove unwanted parts of recordings with the online editor, and obtain the weblinks to share them publicly or privately. Panopto recordings can be viewed with most web browsers or through the Panopto mobile applications. Both methods offer interactive experience for viewers, ranging from adjusting playback speed and volume, to adding notes and taking quizzes. The video library also allows creators to obtain analytics about who watches their recordings and for how long.
For those needing high quality recordings, the Health Education Building (HEB) houses two reservable recording studios. These are quiet rooms with high-quality microphones, specialized lighting, multiple computer monitors, and a Lightboard for capturing handwriting and drawings. Select HEB classrooms offer instructors the option to schedule their Panopto classroom recordings. Scheduled recordings start and stop automatically and are saved to a specific Panopto folder in the instructor’s video library.
