Professional Background

Emily Tyler, PsyD, LP, HSP, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Tyler is a licensed counseling psychologist and has specialized training in sport psychology. She serves as the Executive Director of Mental Health and Performance Services (MHAPS) within Kansas Team Health at Kansas Athletics.
Dr. Tyler earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from Springfield College and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at The Ohio State University in Sport Psychology and Wellness Services (SPAWS) and a predoctoral internship at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Dr. Tyler obtained bachelor’s and master’s degrees in psychology and counseling psychology from The University of Kansas. Her professional affiliations include the Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP), Clinical/Counseling Sport Psychology Association (CCSPA), National Register of Health Service Psychologists, and American Psychological Association (APA).
