Brett M. Woods, Ph.D., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Kansas Medical Center. He is also a sport psychologist with The University of Kansas Health System. He joined KU in 2022 after spending six years as assistant director of sport psychology in the athletics department at the University of Nebraska.
Dr. Woods earned his doctorate in counseling and sport psychology from the University of Missouri, where he also earned a master’s degree in career counseling and sport psychology. Dr. Woods completed his predoctoral internship at Florida State University. He graduated with honors from Baker University with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Dr. Woods’ clinical and research interests focus on the mental health, wellbeing and peak performance of high school, collegiate and professional athletes. His professional affiliations include the Association for Applied Sport Psychology.
