Staff and Staff Dependent Rates

Eligibility Overview

  • Eligible employees may receive a waiver that waives the required campus fee and the difference between resident and non-resident tuition if the student is classified as a non-resident for tuition and fee purposes in accordance with K.A.R. 88-3-9.
  • Dependents of eligible staff may receive a waiver of the difference between non-resident and resident tuition.
  • Students who have Graduate Teaching Assistant, Graduate Assistant and Resident Assistant positions receive their waivers through a separate process administered by the Graduate Studies Office.

Fall/Spring: Employment must start the first, full month of the semester and continue through the 60th day of the semester.

Summer: Employment must start the first day of the summer session and continue through the 30th class day of the summer session, or have met the criteria for the preceding Fall and Spring semesters.

Dependents of KU Medical Center faculty, unclassified and classified staff

Affiliated corporate staff, i.e. The University of Kansas Health System employees

Affiliated Corporation Staff Waivers

Full-time staff (100% appointment) of affiliated corporations (at KU Medical Center, this is The University of Kansas Health System) may receive a waiver of campus or area fees by submitting a letter of verification of appointment from the Human Resources office. This verification letter must be on health system letterhead and submitted every semester a student is eligible and enrolled.

  • The University of Kansas Physicians employees

Process

  • Complete the Application for Staff or Staff Dependent Tuition Rate (PDF). The form must be completed every semester a student is eligible and enrolled.
  • Obtain the signature of your departmental supervisor on the form.
  • Submit the form to Enrollment Services by the established deadline in the academic calendar. Applications will not be accepted after the deadline.
  • Once your employment is verified, the Registrar's Office will apply the waiver and your tuition and fees will be adjusted.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Students are still responsible for adhering to the fee payment deadline on their invoice regardless of whether the waiver has been applied or the form has not been received by the Registrar's Office. Any adjustment that results in a credit balance with the university will be refunded to the student.
